Community Projects

Over the years, Marie-Elaine has participated in a variety of community sewing projects, including:

  • Scarves and blankets for people in need – Created 13 children’s scarves, 12 adult scarves, and 50 fleece blankets for a Quebec City non-profit organization.
  • “The Fingers of the Heart” volunteer group – Joined the volunteer group of the Saint-Vallier-de-Bellechasse Le Cercle des Fermières in 2007, creating handmade items for people in need.
  • Children’s blankets and aprons – Sewed “doudous” (covers) for children and aprons for organizations including Tire-d’Aile and L’Arche l’Étoile.
  • Cancer support project – Helped create more than 250 hats for women with cancer as part of a community volunteer project.
  • Educational and therapeutic cushions – Created more than 50 cushions for people with reduced mobility and people living with Alzheimer’s disease, which were distributed through homes and CLSCs.
  • Baby items for families in need – Created baby towels, bibs, slippers, and blankets that were donated to mothers experiencing difficulties in the La Baie area.
